Lorne MichaelsΒ (bornΒ Lorne David Lipowitz; November 17, 1944) is a Canadian and American television and film producer, comedian, screenwriter and director. He created and producedΒ Saturday Night LiveΒ (1975β1980, 1985βpresent) and produced theΒ Late NightΒ series (since 1993),Β The Kids in the HallΒ (from 1989 to 1995), andΒ The Tonight ShowΒ (since 2014).
He has received 24Β Primetime Emmy AwardsΒ from 112 nominations, holding the record as the most nominated individual in the award show's history.
